Frequently asked questions for C.SMAs
Renewing your certification, earning CEUs, and using the Sports Medicine Acupuncture® trademark.
Keeping your certification current
The SMA certification license term is two years. AcuSport Education will email you a reminder before your renewal date. To renew:
- Send certificate(s) of completion showing 14 hours of continuing education from approved seminars. Email them to [email protected] or mail them to the address below.
- Pay by PayPal or Venmo, or by check payable to AcuSport Education, mailed to P.O. Box 7699, San Diego, CA 92167.
To maintain SMA certification and licensure, a C.SMA must earn 14 CEUs / PDAs every two years from their initial certification date.
CEU hours must come from courses that further your education in musculoskeletal assessment and treatment. These can be sports or orthopedic acupuncture courses, or injury rehabilitation courses such as exercise science, kinesiotaping or postural restoration.
Not sure whether a course will be approved? Contact Janet Doré at [email protected].
