SUMMARY:MODULE II (The Low Back\, Hip & Groin) Assessment & Treatment of Injuries (ATI) (CA)
DESCRIPTION:SMAC Program Class Descriptions\nMODULE II (The Low Back\, Hip and Groin) Assessment & Treatment of Injuries (ATI)\n\nThe practitioner taking this live\, in-person 4-day course will understand that injuries involving the lumbo-pelvic-hip complex must be observed as one complex and not separated in assessment or treatment. Balancing the relationship between the lumbar spine\, the pelvis and the hip will not only help decrease pain in those regions but also affect most low back\, hip and groin injuries.\nMany sport and work-related injuries will be discussed from assessment through treatment. We will examine the mechanical “how and why” injury occurs using postural examination\, orthopedic physical examinations and manual muscle testing to assess the musculoskeletal system. Radiographs\, MRI and ultrasound images will be presented and discussed.\nReferred pain is a common symptom that an acupuncturist will treat. The practitioner will learn to accurately differentiate radicular pain from referred pain and locate the fixed pain site that is causing the pain. With a correct diagnosis of the affected tissue\, the practitioner can then accurately apply successful treatment protocols to the affected tissues and the channels and collaterals (jing luo jingjin) for long-lasting clinical results.\nInnovative treatment protocols will be introduced consisting of advanced needle techniques to the involved tissues.\nThe experience of this workshop will refine the practitioner’s assessment and treatment skills\, expand their knowledge of needle techniques\, and greatly enhance the success rate in treating low back\, hip and groin injuries.\n\nFor more information\, visit these website pages: \n\n\n\nClick here for the SMAC Program HYBRID Class Descriptions\nClick here for the SMAC Program ALL IN-PERSON Class Descriptions\n\n\n\nClass Location/Date/Time\n\nSan Diego\, CA (US) — Marina Village Conference Center\nMay 28-31\, 2026 | 8:30am-5:00pm PST (US) \n\nInstructor\nIan Armstrong\, L.Ac.\, C.SMA \nCEUs\n30 CAB CE & NCCAOM PDA hours pending \nEnrollment Requirements\n\nIn order to register for individual Sports Medicine Acupuncture (SMA) live\, in-person courses\, the licensed practitioner must:\n\nUnderstand and agree to the AcuSport Education Agreement Form (see below)\nProvide proof of having graduated from an ACAOM accredited or equivalent Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncture school with a minimum of 2\,000 hours of acupuncture and TCM training\nBe a licensed or registered acupuncturist and provide proof of active license and malpractice insurance\n\n\n\nEnrollment Process\n\nRead the AcuSport Education Agreement Form and Release of Liability Form (see tabs below) and indicate your agreement on Registration Form\nComplete the Sports Medicine Acupuncture Certification Program Registration Form at the bottom of this page\nUpon submitting your registration below\, you will receive a “Registration Pending” email providing detailed information about how to easily upload required documents to our secure Dropbox folder.
